FASHION

An extremely cruel industry

The fashion industry is one of the world’s leading industries employing millions of people globally, and it’s essential in many different products, such as clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup and furniture. The fashion designers have a very significant role as they decide how we and our environment look like, and they decide wheter fur, leather or other animal products are used in the products.

Iconic fashion designers are, among others, Coco Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Tom Ford, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Donatella Versace, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Mary Quant, Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Donna Karan and Vera Wang.   Among the most sought-after shoe-designers are André Perugia, Steve Madden, Charlotte Olympia, Bruno Magli, Giuseppe Zanotti, Stuart Weitzman, Salvatore Ferragamo, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Miu Miu, Brian Atwood, Alexander McQueen, Walter Steiger and Louis Vuitton.

Famous interior designers are for instance Philippe Starck, Geoffrey Bradfield, Samuel Botero, Juan Montoya, Johns Saladino, Laura Day, Petra Blaisse, Dorothy Draper, Elsie de Wolfe, Frances Adler Elkins, Karim Rashid, Patricia Urquiola, Federico Delrosso, Martin Brudnizki, Thierry W. Despont, Miles Redd and Michael S. Smith. Filmstars and other celebrities also bear a great responsibility, because they are fashion trendsetters and role-models for many people.

Among the most important trendsetters are Jennifer Lopez, Kate Middleton, Beyoncé, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Obama, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Kardashian, Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum, Elle MacPherson and Halle Berry.

Of the top fashion bloggers, many of them having more than a million followers, can be mentioned Chiara Ferragni, Aimee Song, Julie Sariñana, Jessica Stein, Nicole Warne, Danielle Bernstein, Leandra Medine, Wendy Nguyen, The Coveteur, Rumi Neely, Kristina Bazan, Julia Engel, Shea Marie, Elin Kling, Zanita Whittington, Gabi Gregg, Susanna Lau, Chriselle Lim and Jane Aldridge.

Even if the fashion industry, the designers and the trendsetters play a significant important role with regards to our consumption habits, the final decision is up to you: Do you choose to buy an ethical or an unethical product? There are so many fantastic cruelty-free and ethical products to choose from, so there should be no problem to go completely cruelty-free.
