The tourist country Bulgaria

Bulgaria has many magnificent tourist attractions like the Rila Monastery, Rila National Park, the Belogradchik Rocks, Tsarevets, the Sven Rila Lakes, Nessebar, Etara, Perperikon, Koprivshtica, the Cherven Fortress, Boyana Church, Shiroka Laka, Sofia, Varna, Sozopol, Veliko Turnovo, Tryavna, Plovdiv, Melnik, Kaliakra, Perperikon, Shipka, Mount Vitosha, the Oslekov House and St. Dimitar of Salonika.

Bulgaria has also many secrets that very few tourists know about. Before you decide to visit Bulgaria as a tourist, please take a moment to find out whether this is a country whose economy and values you want to support. They way innocent and defenseless beings are treated tells a lot about a society. These news stories give you some information on how animals are treated in Bulgaria.

Bears are kept in appalling conditions in baking hot concrete pits in Bulgaria. The bears are bred purely to be hunted. The bears display signs of severe stress and anxiety, swaying their heads and pacing continually.

Bulgaria has one of the worst records of animal cruelty anywhere. An example of the horrific acts of violence committed against animals is the case of Lucky, a stray cat. Somebody put a lit firecracker into the little cat’s mouth and let it explode, blowing the cat’s face to bits. His jaws were shattered, his tongue was split in half and his eyes were badly damaged.

Despite ban, the cruel dog spinning ritual is still practiced in Bulgaria. The ritual is believed to ward off rabies. A rope is twisted until it is as taut as can be and then a dog is thread through a noose at its end.The dog is then let go and it spins out of control until it tumbles into the water below. The terrified dog reaches such high speeds that by the time it lands in the river it is unable to swim.

Mass dog killings uncovered in two regions in Bulgaria. In Blagoevgrad a grave was found containing 50 plastic bags of bloodied dog corpses. In Haskovo a bin was found containing the bodies of 45 poisoned dogs. Bulgaria is a new and cheap destination for British holidaymakers, and Bulgarian authorities want to ”clean up” the streets for the tourists. As in many East and South European countries, there are countless stray dogs and cats in Bulgaria. The only humane and effective way to control the stray dog population is by spaying and neutering, but it is not done.
